Our History

Delta Dental of New Jersey, the state’s largest dental coverage provider, first started offering dental programs in 1969. 50 years later, Delta Dental of New Jersey now provides or administers dental coverage to more than 1.7 million people in New Jersey and Connecticut.

Delta Dental of New Jersey is a member of the national Delta Dental Plans Association which provides national dental coverage to more than 75 million people in more than 139,000 groups.

Constantly growing to serve the community better, Delta Dental of New Jersey proudly has 300 employees, including licensed dentists, as well as a Board of Trustees comprised of public members and licensed dentists along with Chairman Ronald Deblinger, D.M.D. and President and CEO Dennis G. Wilson.

In Connecticut and New Jersey, Delta Dental of Connecticut, Inc. writes dental coverage on a fully insured basis while Delta Dental of New Jersey administers self-funded dental benefit programs. Both branches offer a full line of managed care, approved fee for service, PPO, and HMO-type programs, as well as a dental access program, and individual dental plans.

Delta Dental of New Jersey gives back with the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation. Each year, the Foundation awards nearly $1 million in grants in New Jersey and Connecticut to dental clinics, hospitals, and health centers that provide dental care to underserved children, developmentally disabled persons, seniors, and veterans. The Foundation also provides grants to support dental hygiene and dental assisting scholarships, as well as dental education programs for children.
